CAFFE NERO / YOYO WALLET
Coffee, digitalised
To be honest, the work is quite old, so some of the finer details have faded from memory.
-
At the time, I collaborated with Yoyo Wallet, which was working with Caffè Nero as a client. Their goal was to replicate the in-store experience within the app, with a particular focus on the classic stamp card system.
The challenge was to bring the familiar sense of loyalty and reward from the physical stores into the digital space in a way that felt natural, intuitive, and engaging for users, while maintaining the brand’s identity and the tactile satisfaction of earning stamps.
Not to brag, but still the designs are being used today, and it has a 4.4 ★★★★☆ on the iOS Store
Wireframes
Easy wireframes were used before high fidelity to test with the client and users if it worked. It did! Luckily, users who loved coffee were more than happy to be tested on prototyped wireframes outside of stores.
Branding was crucial
We leveraged the already strong brand and followed its guidelines closely, ensuring consistency throughout the app. Our goal was to translate the familiar brick-and-mortar store experience into a seamless digital format, so users would feel the same sense of familiarity and trust when interacting with the app as they did in-store.
Digitalising the loyalty card
We created a simple flow that allowed users to update their stamp card—saving their progress digitally for a free coffee later. It was intuitive, and users immediately understood and felt comfortable with it.
